
The California Welfare Fraud Investigator's Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the professionalism of Welfare Fraud and Medi-Cal Investigators throughout the state by sponsoring annual training conferences, identifying and supporting regional training sessions, and through legislative interaction
There are over 1000 Welfare Fraud and Medi-Cal Investigators in California who investigate fraud and abuse in the CalWORKs, Food Stamps, General Assistance, Medi-Cal, County Medical Services Program, In Home Supportive Services programs, Check Forgeries and Housing Authority Programs.
The SIU in twenty-six counties are located within the welfare department, twenty-two are located in the district attorney's office, eight counties have investigators in both the welfare department and district attorney's office, and two counties are located in the sheriff's department.
